The Brief: To reduce the level of the garden and retaining walls adjacent to the house and allow more light into the windows. To create a low maintenance garden, an outdoor living area with plenty of interesting planting. Water and lighting to be included in the scheme. |

A New Garden 2 |

|
The Plan: The railings were removed and the retaining walls reduced in height. Approximately 2 feet of soil (and bricks, stone and rubble!) were removed. The steps were rebuild (evenly this time) opposite the patio doors and raised beds were created around the garden. The main part of the terrace was paved with a random paving. A simple shallow pool water feature was constructed to one side of the garden. After dark, the garden is enhanced by strategically placed up-lighters around the borders. |

The final garden included some changes to this plan– the water feature was relocated to the boundary on the left hand side for example |
