Outdoor Play Area |
|
The brief here was to enhance a paved outdoor play area, create shelter from sun and rain and provide additional equipment storage facilities. A raised garden and a digging pit were created. A covered pergola provided the shelter, and a wooden lean-to shed gave the additional storage space. Different panels of paving were laid to give changes in texture underfoot. Different coloured chalkboard drawing panels were created on the trellis screens surrounding the area. A market stall style canopy extending the roof of the playhouse doubled the amount of play space available there. |

Nature and Outdoor Activity Area |

The aim of this design was to turn an existing grass bank into a nature and outdoor activity area at a primary school. Shelter and seating had to be provided. Meadow areas, bird feeding stations, and flowering and berrying shrubs to attract insects and birds were incorporated into the design. Different surfaces such as paving, grass, bark and gravel were worked into the design. A raised vegetable garden and ornamental planting provided opportunity to learn gardening skills. |
